Welfare for the Urban Poor: Relief Camp

Informal sector is a major neglected component of urban planning. Like any other city, Patna, the capital of Bihar, houses over 60 per cent of its population in slums. Majority of the slum dwellers are migrant families from neriby districts in search of livelihood and living. In the due course of this process, these families lose command over resources and have limited access to a healthy living given their low economic well being. We conducted a relief disbursion camp to alleviate the hardships of these families to a certain extent.

Field Experiment: Health Camp

The health camp, although was the primary objective of the organization on humanitarian ground, from the perspective of a research activity, it was the end result and at once a leading step to future such research led humanitarian efforts. Given the health profile of the state, it was imperative to conduct field operations to examine the current health condition. Proper healthcare system contributes to the well-being of individuals and the wellness of society. The productivity of any worker in the economy depends directly on his individual well-being and thus the economy can achieve higher growth in the presence of proper health care.
